Does This Make Me A… Criminal?

Deep in my closet there’s an item that, like the Tell-Tale Heart’s beating, whispers to me criminal… And it grows louder, you’re a criminal… criiiiiminal…

😬 Eek. Let’s just start at the beginning.

It all started like everything else that gets me in trouble ~ with me watching too much Korean TV. I was peeping at all the cool fashion styles, and I got the idea that I needed some Korean purses.

So, I went on Poshmark (which is like eBay, but for used clothes and accessories) and found a listing for SIX purses for only $35!! It was titled “Fashion Korean Handbags.” Yeah, you betcha I bought them 🥰

They finally arrived, and I was so happy with my purchase! They all looked new, unused! Some of them looked brand-name, too. I showed my husband what a great deal I got.

“These look like they fell out of the back of a truck,” he said.

“No,” I said, “they’re really clean.”

“That’s not what I meant.”

Wait, what?

What…!

Stolen?! 😨

No, it couldn’t be. Maybe the person bought them and never used them. Wouldn’t be the first time a girl has done that! 😁 And besides, they all looked pretty ordinary and cheap.

Except the one that said Dolce & Gabbana.

Interesting…

Okay, no big. So there was ONE brand name purse in the lot. Probably doesn’t even cost much mone–

$1,595… gulp.

Holy moly guacamole.

So I had what was possibly a very expensive, VERY stolen bag in my hands!!! What now?? The person from Poshmark absolutely disappeared… Their page is gone, and you can’t even message them at all.

I shoved the bag in the back of my closet. Couldn’t I get in trouble for owning this bag? That made me a criminal!! 😭 Why did Poshmark even let me buy this???

But wait a minute, my bag looks a little different…

After some research, I found out that it’s most likely a knockoff. It’s actually illegal to sell these. And although it’s not illegal to unknowingly buy a knockoff, I still don’t feel great about it 🤢🤮

So, now I have this bag in my closet and I don’t know what to do with it. At best, it’s a real stolen bag. At worst, it’s a fake stolen bag!! 😓 Sigh. This might eventually become a really weird and pretty pencil holder, because I’m sure as heck not going to wear it out!

Oh, and the other bags?

Not Korean at all 😑

I guess be careful when you buy from Poshmark!

  1. Hi Yari, I would get it out of your house and let your thoughts return to the Lord. You didn’t know (I love bargains too so I wouldn’t know either) but if it’s distracting you, remove it. ❤

  2. It might make you a hooligan, but not a criminal. (I kid, I kid…) But I think maybe a good ‘ol purse burning could be a fun way to get rid of that distraction… 🙂

  3. Well, you didn’t know, you learnt your lesson, you didn’t do it on purpose, you already paid money for it. It wouldn’t be the worst thing if you used it and thus prevented it from going into landfill. But I also understand that it being in your house could be upsetting. Plus, how you do the small things is how you do everything.

Have you decided what to do with it?
